Church can be referred to in two ways: (1) universal and (2) local. or “catholic” (which means universal)The universal church was birthed by Jesus Christ. The universal church cannot be institutionalized - it is a spiritual organism whose life and activity is under the authority and control of Jesus Christ. Confession of faith, formal statement of doctrinal belief ordinarily intended for public avowal by an individual, a group, a congregation, a synod, or a church; confessions are similar to creeds, although usually more extensive. They are especially associated with the churches of the Protestant.

This confession is the opening paragraph in the Preamble to the Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is used by many Disciples congregations in worship as an affirmation of the faith of the church throughout the ages – not as a “test of fellowship,” but as a statement of faith that identifies the Disciples’ commitment to and place within the universal and ecumenical. In Christian liturgy, this confession is expressed through the recitation of the ancient ecumenical creeds-the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed-and through the eucharistic prayer. At every baptism in the Episcopal Church, the congregation welcomes the newly baptized by urging: "Confess the faith of Christ crucified, proclaim his.

Lutheran Confessions Final. STUDY. PLAY. The first section focuses on the ancient doctrine of the Trinity and the person of Christ. The second section is a confession of the heart of the faith. Instead they focus on the unity and agreement of the two, which is how the confessions of the church were assembled in the Book of Concord. The Thirty-nine Articles of Religion (commonly abbreviated as the Thirty-nine Articles or the XXXIX Articles) are the historically defining statements of doctrines and practices of the Church of England with respect to the controversies of the English Thirty-nine Articles form part of the Book of Common Prayer used by both the Church of England and the Episcopal Church.
